From There To Here was set up by Prospect Community Housing, a community based housing association in Wester Hailes, South West Edinburgh. We’ve always been interested in the story of Wester Hailes. As an area, it has a short but complex and fascinating history, sometimes controversial, always thought provoking. It is a place of social historical significance both in terms of its physical transformation but also through its community activism and emphasis on locally led change. We set up a blog and a Facebook page to make sure everyone could read about past campaigns, achievements and shared stories. Much of the information is drawn from the Sentinel newspaper which recorded over the years the many changes taking place, but also had space for local neighbourhood news and views. On our blog site we now have a wide range of articles, recollections, community maps and extracts from the Sentinel. We put photos from the past each week on the Facebook page for comment, discussion and sharing.
