About this memory
#AuldReekieRetold has uncovered a few beer and ale bottles pertaining to Edinburgh's breweries and brewing industries. This ale bottle once contained Steel Coulson's Edinburgh Ale. Steel Coulson was formed in 1865 and continued trading under this name until 1959 when it was acquired by Vaux Associated Breweries. The brewery was located at Croft-An-Righ near Abbeyhill. It's trademark was the fleur-de-lys as seen on this bottle. Did anyone in your family work at Steel Coulsons - or do you remember their Edinburgh Ale?!
