About this memory
"You never forget the thrill of buying your first house. Mine was a one-bedroomed flat in a tenement building in Cowan Road and cost £7,800 when I bought it in 1975. There were bungalows on the other side of the road and so I had a clear view over to Craighouse Hospital where, coincidentally, my husband Rob would work years later when the buildings became part of Napier University.
"An early memory of Cowan Road was the co-op horse standing patiently in the street in all weathers while the milkman clambered up the tenement stairs delivering pints of milk." - Norma-Ann Coleman (née Clayton)
