2016 - Shrubhill final show vocalists from all the bands at finale,

About this memory

2016 – left to right Nobby Clark, Colin Chisholm, Alan Laing, Alan Guthrie, David Valentine.

There had been for years a threat that The Masonic Club was to be sold to developers and as part of the sale, have a new building built only 100 meters away from the existing site.

Early in 2016 the deal had gone through and the club was to close.

In the 5 years since our initial gig we had produced almost 20 shows at the club most on a Sunday afternoon and some on Friday evening. They had all been sell out shows all featuring The Hipple People plus musicians and bands that were of a similar vintage and had actually played in bands during the sixties.

We created the biggest show possible for the final one with 4 bands and 3 guest vocalists.

The club was full to capacity and the atmosphere electric, concluding, after 3 hours, with musicians and dancers coming together for a massive communal “Twist and Shout”, led by vocalists from all the bands.
