About this memory

putting up the Perspex Screen (as shown above) hand sanitizer station, and forms to take Customer’s names, addresses, and telephone numbers.

During that time, I received 2 letters through the door from Mr Brown begging for the first available Appointment. When we got the Government News, we could open on the 15th July 2020 I immediately phoned Mr Brown and he got the first Appointment with Dave early morning.

When the announcement came, we could open on 15th July I had the shop phone number transferred to my House. I went to the Shop to collect the Appointment Book and when I arrived home 20 mins later my Wife had already had 7 calls asking for an Appointment. The phone never stopped ringing the 2 weeks before we opened.

When we opened, we were fully booked for the next 2 weeks. I left the phone transferred to my Home with my 13 year old Granddaughter Megan and my Wife answering the calls. The phone rang from 7 in the morning until late afternoon. We took over 700 calls the first 2 weeks then 600 the following weeks.

Mr Brown didn’t turn up for his Appointment on the first day, he thought it was Thursday. He got up early on Thursday morning and checked his diary and realised he was too late – he got the wrong day. He phoned to apologise and asked for another Appointment – I said it will be 2 weeks – “OH NO- OH NO” – then I said we had a cancellation the next morning.

When he arrived, he was apologetic and gave Dave a Bottle of Champagne.
