About this memory

2022 – was causing me problem’s, due to playing around 4-3 hour gigs a week. Coming from a choirboy background at St Mary’s Cathedral Choir in Edinburgh, singing Smokestack lighting and songs by LEADBELLY and other Soul and R,n B Artists was taking its toll.

The new line up was favourably received by the Hipples fans and the two front singers were dubbed Edinburgh’s Walker Bros. (In fact Tam Paton manager of the Rollers also added another singer alongside Nobby Clark for a while !!!!!!)

Ian worked in Constable’s as a Compositor during the 60’s along side singing with The Hipple People until they split in 1967. Ian fronted a band with Jim and John and they added Stuart Tosh who went onto play with Pilot.

He attended a few Hipple People reunions through the years and was driving Black Cabs last time we met.

Ian sadly died of a Brain Aneurism in 2011.
