About this memory

1968 – David – Smiggy (RBT Smith) joined on lead guitar from the Glasgow band The Pathfinders having previously been in Three’s A Crowd, The Dexters, The Embers and firstly The Saracens.

Smiggy went on from THE HIPPLE PEOPLE to ply with Writing On The Wall, all well known Edinburgh band’s of the time.

Raymond became disillusioned with the band and left. George Nicol was recruited on drums and the Hipples soldiered on playing in Edinburgh and through in the Electric Garden in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, until Sandy got a job in Cambridge.

I took over on bass guitar and the Hipple People were again down to a three piece.

When Smiggy left to join the Writing on the Wall, formerly the Jury, with the legendary Linnie Patterson on vocal’s, two Glasgow musician’s completed the 4 piece line up with guitarist Cosmo Vericco and Tommy Barke on bass guitar.
