Alastair W. Forbes Legget’s Tannery

1962
Alastair W. Forbes Legget's Tannery

About this memory

We used to play in Legget’s Dean Tannery which was located in Damside.

We used to sneak into the Tannery Warehouse area, via the broad step’s, which took you up to Christine Robertson’s Shop on Dean Path.

We used to climb up to the top of the very large bales of wool ( which were wrapped in brown sacking ) and jump from bag to bag.

We did not bother about the smell, or the rat’s, as we were having fun.
