“Outside our first home in Dumbiedykes. We had gas, no electricity (not referring to central heating!) but we did have an inside toilet! We moved to no.42, where Elizabeth was born. The bliss of switching on lights and having a real cooker.” – Jean Bell (née Bottomley)
