This stunning display of feathers was captured as the peasant strutted along the boardwalk overlooking Duggingston Loch in ‘Jock Tamson’s Gairden’.

I discovered the ‘Gairden’ during Covid when we were all encouraged to spend time in gardens and open space with friends and family. This I did every lunchtime throughout this terrible period, come rain or shine, and enjoyed the ever changing scene from my seat overlooking the loch. I still enjoy the same quiet contemplative view to this day.

The pheasant’s display of confidence and colour represents the ever present vitality of nature which inspires us, and gives us hope as we emerge from the darkest winters.
