COMELY BANK AVENUE

About this memory
BREAKING THE NEWS
COMELY BANK – STOCKBRIDGE – EDINBURGH
Edinburgh, I had been wandering with my camera through wynds and worn closes and by nighttime, I had arrived in the New Town. Dark was falling and the golden hour was spent, leaving a blessed hush. A church bell suddenly rang out and immediately after came a crash; thunder. Suddenly, fat warm pelts of rain were running over the cobbles. I turned to hurry off and there was the picture my camera sought. I was standing on a hill which immediately plunged then rose higher and higher to a height which seemed to reach into trees (surely one of Stockbridge’s most scenic views, perhaps even the city’s longest avenue?) The wet road had taken on the sheen of metal reflecting lights, glinting cars with shadows and shapes forming this atmospheric tableaux vivant. Edinburgh, city of enchantments. It was indeed a thirsty summers night.
