Evening Light

Evening Light

About this memory

I feel that this photograph captures the mood of Edinburgh during COVID-19. We have the figure of a man making his way across the road at the east end of what would normally be a thriving city scene. Apart from this lone figure, only a couple of cars are visible as they make their way through the centre of Edinburgh.
This lone person looks like he is leaning into an invisible force as he walks across the empty street with the dark sky overhead. He has taken his jacket off as the sun has been shining but the mood is not one of joy and light, it is melancholy.
