Festival Of The Beltane Queen At The Old Parish Church In Peebles c.1933

About this memory

May Armstrong (Robson) is the Beltane Queen, and lifelong friend of Flora Fraser (third right).

“This is the festival of the Beltane Queen, still held in Peebles every summer. May was the queen that year, awarded because she was the school dux. [Flora] is the first one on the [right], being the ‘second top’ of the class. She was a lady in waiting.” – Patricia Anderson (née Hendry)
