‘Gor-Ray’ window display circa 1963
September 1963

About this memory
This image was donated to The Living Memory Association as part of a collection of glass plate negatives which we have been digitising.
It shows an unknown department store window display of Gor-Ray fabric fashions with associated slogans inviting customers to ‘swing into autumn.’
When this image was posted on our social media channels, many respondents recognised this as being Patrick Thomson’s Department Store which was situated on North Bridge and existed from its origins in 1889 until the mid 1970s (it continued to trade as Arnott’s until around 1982).
