About this memory

1945 – This very isolated area where we were, with the water and the surrounding tree’s was referred to as the “Hedgie” by the Dean Village children.

The public had no access with no large metal steps adjacent to the Tannery as there is today with the Water of Leith Walkway open to Roseburn.

To gain access — before the steps the village children in decades past, went through the stair of number 41 Dean Path to the back of the tenement and then climbed over a very high wall topped with glass and dropped down into the “Hedgie” area.
