the 2nd World War all Street Lighting was out of action because of the Blackout. Grandpa connected the Gas Supply from the Gas Street Lamp outside the Tannery into the Men’s Canteen for heating the Gas Fire and their Tea Urn, this lasted for 5 years from 1939 ’till 1948.
