About this memory
The interesting thing about this photo is that my Granny (Helen Lyle nee Mitchell) was not a “bow-tow” – someone who was born in Newhaven. There was a lot of objection to the marriage because of this. It looks like they might have dressed her up for this photo to pretend she was a native Newhavener!
