How did I manage to become a Legget ? My Mother, Helen M.S. Legget

About this memory

married George de Vinchelez Le Sueur in Edinburgh on the 6th of January 1937.

My Father was educated at Daniel Stewart’s College and my Mother at Mary Erskine’s Edinburgh Ladies College.

When he left School he had a short spell with Salvesen’s before joining the Royal Air Force in 1934 as a Flying Officer, in Unit 102 MV.

My Father was stationed in Abu Sueir, Egypt in 1937. He tested Gloster Gladiator Planes that were assembled in Egypt for the forthcoming Second World War.

My brother Robert and I were taken by our Mother to live with our Father in Heliopolis Egypt.

In July 1939 our Father was killed in a Flying Accident.
