About this memory

1942 – My Brother Robert on the right was a year older than me, he had been at Daniel Stewart’s College for a whole year, and our Uncle Tom Legget, who was also at Daniel’s Stewarts College, was in his final year 6th Form. He was known at school through out the year as “Uncle Tom”.

Every day Robert and I left school we walked down to the Tannery in the Dean Village where we played amongst the wool-bags, much to the annoyance of our Grandfather who used to shout at us and prod us with his walking stick. We always managed to get out of the way quickly !!

When we got home Granny Legget would make us take off our school uniforms and put them in the wash because of the terrible smell ! We didn’t notice that.
