About this memory

1960 – The Building with the sloping roof, half way down Bell’s Brae to the left was occupied by ” Orman the Joiners “. The large building centred opposite was called the ” Bottle Exchange “. It was before its time for ” Recyling “. You were paid money for handing in empty bottles.

The Bottle Exchange building in the 1960s fell into dereliction but fortunately it was not demolished. It was eventually refurbished and Robert Mathew & Partner’s Architect’s later occupied it.
