Loch Fyne restaurant boarded up during coronavirus lockdown
30th March 2020

About this memory
With so many businesses forced to close, Loch Fyne shut up shop and boarded up its windows. Within the first few days of lockdown, a group of troublemakers had thrown stones through the windows of the neighbouring Fishmarket restaurant and Welchs Fishmongers, so the owners of Loch Fyne must have decided not to take any chances while their restaurant was closed. The Fishmarket actually went on to reopen and do a roaring trade in takeaway via click & collect or Deliveroo. Crowds of only-vaguely-socially-distanced people outside waiting to collect their meals, and folk sat eating at regular distances along the Western Harbour breakwater, and on the seats and tables outside the Brewers Fayre, have been a familiar sight.
