I took this photo at the Botanics, on the first day this year where I could feel the sun’s warmth on my face. The snowdrops had begun carpeting the ground and the buds were just forming on the trees. The darkest days of winter suddenly felt far behind me. A large group of long-tailed tits landed in the trees above me, chittering away to each other. They darted so quickly from branch to branch that I ended up with shot after shot of a blur of tail flying out of frame. I was delighted when this one finally stayed still just long enough for me to take its picture.
