“My Auntie Nan. In her late teens, she served in the Timber Corps in Perthshire during World War Two. The Timber Corps was a separate branch of the Women’s Land Army. The forestry girls were known as ‘Lumber Jills’. Nan worked on felling trees and loading them on to lorries for the war effort.” – Anne Smith [2024]
