I took this photo on a walk along the Water of Leith. I always find new things to see even though I’ve walked Balerno to Colinton lots of times. It’s beautiful and full of sounds, light, darkness, colour, memories and hope for the future. We are lucky in Edinburgh to have beautiful outside spaces. The Water of Leith is used by families, deer, runners, cyclists, solo walkers, dog walkers, couples, groups of friends and dreamers like me. It is an escape, an adventure and it makes memories. Free fun and fresh air. I love it and it is beautiful all year and changes constantly. It is a nice place to watch the world go by, say hello to people and catch up with friends. I’ve walked alone, taken my son and his friends on nature walks, walked dogs, met for romantic dates, used it to get exercise, to unwind, to think and to enjoy time with friends. When everything else changes in life, my special favourite outside space welcomes me and shows me the wonder of the freedom I feel in this beautiful environment. This is a part of the walk at Juniper Green. It forks in several directions, allowing you to choose which path to take, whether to take a short or long walk and perhaps which cafe to stop at.
