National Monument on a winter’s day

23rd December 2010
National Monument on a winter's day

About this memory

The National Monument was planned to commemorate the Scots who died in the Napoleonic Wars, as ‘A memorial of the past and incentive to the future heroism of the men of Scotland’. Never completed, it is popular with Edinburgh residents and tourists who ‘complete’ it day be day by clambering on to it and having their photographs taken. This shot shows a winter scene with snow
