Old Canal Bridge Sighthill

Old Canal Bridge Sighthill

About this memory

This photo shows the old Union Canal Bridge which was the City boundary for many years.
The buildings on the right were built as stables for the horses pulling the barges plus a dwelling house.
When the canal ceased to be used, it was owned in the 1950s by a Mr Wright and his son David who hired out boats.
It was probably demolished in the late 1950s (unconfirmed).
On the left bank are the fields in Picture 1 being ploughed.
