Old Royal High School – Going through the Memorial Doors 1966
22nd July 1966

About this memory
The final act as every leaver was dispatched into the wide world through the Memorial Doors which led from the Assembly Hall onto the front of the school.
The Rector shook your hand and gave you such words of wisdom as “Don’t get into trouble”
My first act was to remove my tie and light up a cigarette.!!
The Door bears a Greek inscription translating to” They died but did not die”
Photograph reproduced with the permission of the Rector of The Royal High School Barnton.
