About this memory

“Class of Miss Bibb, approximate age ten years.. ..school photographer came every year. Myself in front row second right [left?] in floral dress, long blonde hair and ribbon. Taken in front of headmaster’s office.

“[The] photo [was] taken [the] first year after [the] war. Father was [a] prisoner of war in Germany. [He was] repatriated home. Houses were starting to be built in West Pilton. We were allocated a house there to bring all the family together.

“[The] school was houses just off Ferry Road, as there was just fields and some houses there at that time. It was four in a block houses converted into classrooms. Nowadays they are houses.” – Helen Ewing (née Skene) [2003]
