About this memory
William Elliot (right, in white coat).
MacTaggart Scott is a naval engineering business founded in 1898 and which is based at Loanhead.
William Elliot began work at Mactaggart Scott as a teenager until his retirement in 1969. As an apprentice, William lost an eye in an accident, requiring him to wear a glass eye thereafter. During the Second World War he travelled to Belfast to work on boats needed for the war.
William married Elizabeth Bremner in 1915 and they had three children – Willie, May, and Alan. May was the mother of Donald Morgan, William Elliot being his grandfather.
