About this memory

Walter Jamieson (1915-1998).

Apprenticed with George Brown Engineers. Went to sea from 1936. Torpedoed in North Atlantic convoy 1942. From 1938-47 worked with the Ben Line and Dornoch Shipping companies. Worked with Christian Salvesen on whaling expeditions to South Georgia from 1947-61 and then deep-sea fishing in Newfoundland until 1965. From 1965-80 worked with the Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency. His last trip before retirement was on the fisheries protection vessel The Switha which went down in The Forth on 31st Jan 1980.
