“It was tradition to dress up for ‘the Happening’ – maybe it was superstitious, confusing all myths and legends associated with the sea.
“No matter what disguise, that is my father second row up from the front with three people on each side. It was no wonder there were talk of sailors, after all, how did the dresses be aboard? Come to think of it, I’m sure one of [the] family was a dress short. Darn it, they couldn’t go to the ball at home without it!” – Evelyn Muir (née Mobbs)
