St Nicholas Church Sunday School Picnic 16th June 1956
16th June 1956

About this memory
One of the yearly highlights of going to Sunday school was the Sunday School Picnic.
Held on a Saturday, we were herded onto double deck buses and transported off to a local park, usually Spylaw or Campbell.
Depending on the weather we ran, jumped and sang for a couple of hours. Sometimes there was a Band that we marched to.
Food consisted of Meat or Fish paste sandwiches on white bread and cut into quarters. The sandwiches were served from old metal biscuit tins.
Orange Juice or tea, with milk and sugar already added, were served out of huge galvanised metal teapots.
