William Galbraith.

William Galbraith was a tinsmith/ironmonger. He was born in Edinburgh in 1844, the son of Philip Galbraith and Elizabeth Stewart. He married Catherine Christie at Summerfield, Leith on 11 January 1864. They lived at 62 Heath Street. By 1874 they were living at 47 Thistle Street, and by the 1881 census at 23 Cowan’s Close.

They had six children:

– Catherine (b.1866). She was a bookbinder by 1881.
– Charlotte (b.1870)
– Isabella (b.1873, d. about 1947). Lived in Arthur Street.
– Helen Christie (b.1875). Married Janus Vandepeear.
– Elizabeth J (b.1877).
– Philip D (b.1879). Killed in Sudan.
