About this memory
David Hutchinson.
“Father was born in 1888 and had his right leg amputated as a child – [my] sister thinks when he was about 4 years old. He became a keen swimmer and played water polo for many years.
“He was one of seven brothers, all of whom – apart from himself – fought in the First World War. The youngest was killed in the Somme.
“He became a tailor and had a business until the Depression.” – Trudy Thomas (née Hutchinson) [2004]
