    The collar number badges have ‘MLC’ in the wider part to the front, the collar number was in the circular part to the rear, which makes the two men Mid Lothian Constabulary officers. The helmet is also of the correct type for Mid Lothian at the time. The border counties tended to wear a different style of headgear.
