“This was a real treat to get taken to the beach on a sunny Sunday. Everyone had the same idea and it took us forever to get to ‘Porty’ from our house in Presentonfield. We had to travel to the GPO first by bus, then get the tram car. The queues were miles long!” – Alma Laing (née Farquhar)
