About this memory

Satirical cartoon of the Edinburgh Corporation Education Department.

“The cartoonist was Tom Curr who was well-known in his day. One of my grandfathers was Robert Bell, who died in office as the City Treasurer of Edinburgh while attending a conference in Naples in 1955. Tom Curr did a lot of political cartoons and the dozen or so I have all feature Robert Bell. They were published in an Edinburgh paper and my Grannie had cut them out and kept them.” – Liz Marshall [2016]
