“PTS (Preliminary Training Scheme) over – we were now ‘established’ nurses working in the wards. Very proud of our uniforms, particularly our navy cloaks with scarlet lining.

“Marion came from Wick, Carrie from Thurso. I was the only one in the training group from Edinburgh” – Betty MacKintosh (née Webster) 2002
