Typical 1950s School Desk

Typical 1950s School Desk

About this memory

Every pupil had their own separate desk.
Occasionally there would be double desks where two pupils shared.
Made of wood and cast-iron, all desks faced the front of the class where the teacher sat behind a large desk.
The decks were fitted with a lid to store books etc.
There was a hole in the top where a ceramic inkwell was placed for Writing lessons.
