About this memory

William Dowie Haswell (1921-2017).

Willie was born and brought up in the Canongate. He was called up in July 1941 and served with the RAF Regiment. He met his future wife Barbara Müllejans while stationed in the north of Germany. They married in Edinburgh in 1949 and remained together for sixty-six years until Barbara’s death in 2015.
