Thomas Peacock served four and a half years in India with the Cameron Highlanders, returning to Leith after suffering a burst eardrum. He later became a stevedore at Leith Docks, and lived in Allan Street (now Dudley Avenue South), off Ferry Road. At the start of World War Two, he joined the Leith Home Guard, and was promoted to lieutenant (he was the only member who had actually served in the army).
Thomas Peacock was the father-in-law of Gilbert Wallace, Gilbert having married Thomas’ eldest daughter Catherine in 1960.
