About this memory
The ‘Southern Venturer’ was built by the Furness Shipbuilding Company, Haverton Hill, Stockton-on-Tees. It was launched on 11th June 1945 and completed by October. It was owned by the Sevilla Whaling Company Ltd (Christian Salvesen & Co), Leith. It was sold to a Japanese company in 1962 and broken up in 1964.
