William Murray IPA bottle

1900
William Murray IPA bottle

About this memory

#AuldReekieRetold has uncovered a few beer and ale bottles pertaining to Edinburgh’s breweries and brewing industries. This bottle once contained Murray’s IPA. William Murray & Co were established at Craigmillar in 1897 and were one of seven breweries in the Duddingston/Craigmillar area. It ceased production on this site ca.1950 but continued to be produced at the North British Brewery. Murray’s also had a cooperage – did any of your ancestors work at Murray’s or do you remember its IPA?!
