Willie Merrilees with ‘Greyfriars Bobby’ (the dog was uncreditted in the film).
“Willie Merrilees had become friends with Walt Disney. At the end of the filming of ‘Greyfriars Bobby’ there was an uncertain future for the little dog who took the starring role. [The dog] was given to Willie Merrilees who brought it home to Edinburgh. He put it in the care of Dunforth Children’s Home, which he often visited.” – Merril Whalen [2003]
