It Pays to ‘Persevere’
“Persevere” is the motto of Leith.
As an incomer to the town, albeit for some 60 years past, I have a great interest in the town and its history. One aspect of this was to research my wife’s family who resided in the town for many generations. In doing this some nine years ago I discovered that one of my wife’s uncles – John Dick – was killed during the First World War some four days before the Somme offensive on 26th June 1915. This intrigued me so I decided to see what I could discover about him. At first this was very little.
