Memories of Wester Hailes Primary School Sighthill 1949-1957 (Part Two)

1955

In the mid 1950s Calderglen Nursery School was built in the top left corner of the playing field.

In August 1957 the school was amalgamated with Murrayburn, probably because of falling numbers.

Following its closure as a School it was used by Donaldsons School for the Deaf for a few years.
Four of the five blocks were demolished.

An overhead Google View shows the one original building still there, as well as showing the unchanged outline of the original tarmac playground.
The main difference is the Sighthill Library now built on the grass where the football pitches were. Even the metal fence around the perimeter looks like the original from 1949.
