Murrayburn Primary School from 1957-1961

1957

My first experience of the School came on 16th August 1957 when we transferred from Wester Hailes possibly with Mrs Hunter.
Had Mrs Towner for the two years after that and then Mr Bowden for last one.

The modern photo of the school is much as I remember it in the 1950s.

I seem to remember there were Bicycle Sheds in the bottom left hand corner.

We used to line up every morning and march into school to the strains of either The Dambusters March or The Air Force March.
I can still hum both of these without fault!!

The biggest change was that we no longer had a field to play on at Breaks.

Mr Butcher was the Headmaster and Mr Bowden the Deputy Head.

I also spent the summer term in Miss Emslies Class instead of going to Carrickvale.

I left in the summer of 1961 and went to the Royal High School.
