The Sighthill Health Centre – Old Calder Road 1953

1953

The Health Centre was state of the art in 1953 when it was built.

The main Doctors were Dr Alan McDairmid, his wife Dr Margaret and her brother Dr Burnett.
Others remembered were Dr Watson and Dr Darling.
Most times you simply turned up at surgery times and waited your turn.
Upstairs was the Dental Dept. which you could smell as you went upstairs.
It was a strange mixture of disinfectant and knockout gas and scared you to death.
The School Dentist, Dr David Hardy, worked from there as did Miss Miller.
