Prior to 1930 the Old Calder Road from Longstone Road to the Union Canal was bordered on both sides by farms and farmland.
Between 1930 and 1950, the Parkhead, Sighthill and Calders Prefab Estates were built on the south side followed by the Broomhouse Estate and the Sighthill Industrial Estate on the North.
In this Scrapbook I have tried to highlight places of interest at the time, most of which have now disappeared.
This was my neighbourhood until the prefabs were knocked down and the area redeveloped.
It is unlikely that an environment such as this will ever be seen again.
