A Whole Lotta Hula going on!

A Whole Lotta Hula going on!

About this memory

This fantastic image from 1958 shows local girl May Liddell at the Assembly Rooms demonstrating the new craze for hula hooping which swept the country in the 1950s. The enthusiastic audience are employees of Woodhouse’s Furniture Store which once graced Princes Street – apparently their staff dinner dances were legendary!
